Delegation is an entrepreneur’s superpower because it allows you to focus on scaling the business while your amazing team works in their zone of genius. And when your team is working in their zone of genius, the business succeeds. So, how do you get to be a master delegator? Where do you start? Well, I have a few ideas that I use in my business every day that I want to share with you.

Know What To Delegate

Your team members are not genies in a bottle, meaning your team members cannot read your mind. More importantly, your team members are not always aware of what you need to or can be delegated. Only you know what needs to get done, so it is your responsibility to communicate what tasks need to be done, how it needs to be done, and establish appropriate deadline(s). This can solve a lot of issues that may arise by simply educating your team members on what needs to be accomplished. So, start with a clear map, and then go forth with delegation.


Provide The Right Resources

If there are documents that need to be shared, share them. If there are instructions or corresponding tools that are needed to complete a task, share them. If there are passwords that are needed, share them. The bottom line is you as the delegator has the responsibility of setting up the taskmaster with success. This means providing the right resources and tools that are needed in order to achieve goals in the most efficient way possible.


Deliver And Ask For Feedback

If you are a team member, this one is for you. Remember to submit tasks and things that need to be completed on time. To take it a step further, ask your project manager or team lead for further feedback. This makes you stand out as a team player that takes initiative, and it allows you receive tips and tricks on how you can get better and better at your craft. Feedback is a great thing, and your clients will love working with you because of how you take their words of critique and apply them to future work.


Remember this: delegation is a two-way street. It takes the team lead, business manager, or project manager to delegate what needs to be done, when and how it gets done. It also takes the taskmaster to execute the work and submit it with excellence and efficiency. As you scale your business, delegation is one of the most important attributes that your team needs to have in order to have everyone working in their zone of genius. It just takes a little bit of time, patience, and commitment to the business’ goals in order for delegation to become your business normal.
